Job Summary
As a Senior Software Engineer at Vali Cyber, you will own and build from scratch Vali’s cloud services. You will be responsible for conceiving and delivering our mission-critical cloud services that scale globally and serve millions of requests per day, with low latency and five-nines availability. The services you develop will be portable across on-prem, and cloud-based deployments. You will independently architect and implement cloud-based services that are globally available, raise the bar on availability, scalability and performance standards, and delight our customers!

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply secure development practices across all stages of the development lifecycle
  • Design and implement real-time data pipelines with guaranteed delivery for alerting and observability systems
  • Apply messaging patterns effectively to build reliable, event-driven architectures
  • Implement caching strategies for stable data to optimize real-time data throughput, with awareness of common caching pitfalls
  • Package and deploy the solution across air-gapped, on-premises, and cloud environments
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs as a first-class product, supporting customers who require API-only integrations
  • Design and implement comprehensive test strategies, with emphasis on integration testing to ensure API security and reliability
  • Translate high-level goals into concrete, working implementations that enable team review and iterative refinement
  • Champion simplicity across the stack — solutions should be learnable, supportable, testable, and consumable
  • Provide regular feedback on how a young organization can mature and develop its practices
  • Learn and grow in preparation for future positions
  • Stay motivated and stay hungry

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field; with at least three years of professional experience
  • Proficiency with algorithms and data structures
  • Security-first mindset with practical experience in secure coding, data protection, and compliance requirements
  • Proven experience delivering distributed systems in production, with strong architectural understanding of design patterns and protocols
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, and relational databases
  • Familiarity with message brokers and caching layers in production systems
  • Experience with container workflows — building, packaging, and deploying images to varied environments
  • Commitment to automated testing and continuous integration practices
  • Prioritizes simple, performant solutions over clever or complex ones
  • Self-directed and comfortable driving work forward without close oversight
  • Communicates effectively through written artifacts — Jira stories, wikis, and technical documentation
  • Collaborative, positive approach to working with teammates, with a strong work ethic
  • Naturally curious, with a desire to learn and take on new challenges
