IMPACT IN REAL-LIFE

ENVIRONMENTS.

Our open-source tool, SecurityPerf® makes benchmarking production workloads easy. Motivated by a need to accurately determine the overhead of security solutions on diverse production workloads in multi cloud environments and hardware configurations, SecurityPerf provides reproducible and meaningful results for enterprise-grade systems. This data is essential to understanding the economic cost between different security solutions.

—The State of Cloud Cost Intelligence

Cloud spend continues to increase dramatically, however there are still a lot of unknowns as to how spend is being allocated. To help address cloud costs, consider your security products. Aside from providing less-than-ideal security in many instances, we’ve found that many legacy Linux security tools can take from 20%-55% overhead on a machine! Running SecurityPerf can help you make sure you are making informed economic decisions when selecting a security solution.

HOW IT WORKS

While many benchmarking tools and suites exist, they are expensive and/or specific to a given use case. SecurityPerf addresses these problems by providing an open-source, always free-to-use solution. SecurityPerf takes advantage of other open-source benchmarking tools and containerization to run diverse workloads and benchmarking tools on any Linux or cloud system a user might choose. SecurityPerf uses two systems, one that represents a server which runs the services being benchmarked and one that represents the client which runs the benchmarking software.

Two systems utilize containers for real-world benchmarking.
